I don’t love the taste of AG1 on its own. If you’re in the same position, these are a few ways to make it easier to drink. This is about taste, not a claim that adding juice makes a supplement work better.
The simplest changes
Use more water. My first try was with 250 ml. About 350 ml would have made that first experience much less intense. Follow the serving instructions for the powder; extra liquid changes the concentration, not the amount of product.
Make it cold. Cold water and ice make it more pleasant for me. Shake it well so the whole drink cools down.
Add orange juice. This is my usual option. The sweetness and acidity cover some of the flavour. A mixture of water and juice is another possibility if straight juice is too sweet.
Something creamier
Some people like stirring it into yoghurt. A sweeter yoghurt, such as strawberry, seems a more promising place to start than a big bowl of plain yoghurt with an unexpected green flavour.
I’d try a small amount first rather than commit an entire breakfast to an experiment.
Smoothie ideas
My go-to combination is banana, strawberries, orange juice, and orange. The fruit gives the drink something else to taste of.
A few other combinations to try, rather than things I’m claiming to have personally tested:
- Frozen mango, pineapple, and a little coconut milk.
- Banana, milk or a plant-based alternative, and a spoonful of peanut butter.
- Berries, yoghurt, and water to adjust the thickness.
Keep the liquid cold and adjust it to a texture you like. More ingredients aren’t automatically better, and a fruit smoothie isn’t a reason to ignore how the supplement fits into the rest of your diet.
