I wish the NEO robot was real

The first time I watched the video, it felt so magical. It felt like the future was here and we’re finally seeing AI mixing into “real life”. But sadly, it was all fake, at least for now. This is a thing we see more and more in the AI world, companies soft releasing something that isn’t quite there yet.

A screenshot from 1x their website today

Soft releasing is fine when it’s something small that you do not pay a lot for, but the NEO costs $20k(!!!) with a $200 deposit that you might not see back if the company fails to launch their product.

But there is one cool thing about it so far: that it’s a robot you can move in real time. Imagine these things without AI being used in places where it’s a bad idea to bring a human: for example when there’s a gas leak (assuming the robot does not cause any flames/sparks/anything).
